Farewell, Neighbor
If it’s true, as some say, that death on this plane is simply like taking off a pair of too-tight shoes, then I know that you’re somewhere else, having a big chuckle about it all. Reunited with your beloved husband, daughter and dogs, having a grand time just as you intended. I like that thought. Friend to dogs everywhere and lover of sunsets and ice cream, there’s a hole just your shape and size left in this little town. You are missed. Thanks for all the morning and sunset chats, stories and hundreds of Milk-Bones. All of the neighborhood dogs still walk very s-l-o-w-l-y past your house – wagging…….and ever hopeful. Peace.
Oh no, was this the wonderful woman at the end of the road by the dock?
Yes, she got sick in autumn, and went pretty quickly, her family all around her, right here, at home.
Oh, this made me cry and I didn’t even know her. Although, in fact, it sounds like we should be happy for her that she is going home to her family instead of being sad that she’s gone from here.
If there’s a dog heaven, she’s found it by now.
