1st boat ride of 2011

…on a 40 foot Chesapeake Bay deadrise, the Island Lady, with new friends Jake and Pat, and Kirke. Stylin’! It was one of those warmish, hazy afternoons and the smell of the Bay was thick. We left from Tilghman Creek and headed west around Tilghman Point, then straight south along the peninsula to Tilghman Island. About a 3 hour cruise, it was exhilarating to be out on the water again. Saw lots of birds, a few boats, took our own version of a waterfront house tour and ended up at Severn Marine, where every boat around here ends up at one time or another. If everything goes as planned, the Island Lady will be ready for cruising customers later this season. Just choosing photos today, I can still smell the trip and feel the cool wet air against my face. Wonderful! And Kirke was right – sandwiches made by somebody else always taste so much better than your own, especially when eaten outside. On a boat. For the first ride of the year. Thanks for everything, guys!
