Dear Mother Earth –

Thanks for the ever-changing seasons – daily sunrises – lightning bugs – whistle of wind in the pines – spring temperatures – moonshine – sweet corn – spruce trees – green onions – song of the chickadee – pineapples – snowstorms – compost – tiny fresh arugula – colors of the sunset – lilacs that smell like Grandma – look of 10 egrets perched in a tree – taste of fresh ginger – morning coffee – pearls in oysters – autumn leaves – green garlic – Maryland blue crabs – cats’ purr – shapes of icicles –  babbling brooks – moving tides – gold in the hills – river birch – scent of a baby – rolling waves – soft hoot of an owl – rainforests – changing views of the sky – wisps of a feather – gobble of a turkey – maple syrup – warmth of the sun – seeds that feed us – sound of the rain – smell of the marsh – taste of white perch – feel of walking on the beach – view of the full moon – saffron – shriek of a hawk – rumble of thunder – sight of a heron in flight – salt – cool shade of an oak tree – antics of monkeys – Rocky Mountains – giant sequoia – taste of banana – color of a bluebird – islands of the Caribbean – yeast – emeralds deep inside you – red beets – light green of a field of rye – warmth of a wood fire – call of the wild – crepe myrtles – cumulus clouds – pure honey – miniature donkeys – tadpoles – round rocks in the creek – yams – thick flesh of a ripe red pepper – buzz of summer locusts – pounding surf – you know, stuff like that. I love you.
