Antique and Classic Boat Show at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum

Great weekend for the Annual Antique and Classic Boat Show – and there was a great turnout! It’s not too late to see it – the show continues from 10-4 today. If you’re anywhere near St. Michaels, this is a definite must-see. Free with Museum admission. Kevin’s brother Randy and wife Judy came to town to visit, and we’re spending the weekend boating, swimming and in general – having fun.

The only thing better than all of the boats and cool stuff to buy, was the fact that Marc Barto, Project Manager for the Rosie Parks skipjack restoration at the Museum, threw a crab feast right there in the boat hoop house – in the shadow of the Rosie Parks. Crabs, corn, grilled croaker. Man. Delicious! And get this – this is so Barto – he let festival guests who were wandering through, come and eat along with his friends, staff and volunteers. With a big grin, Barto says – “they’ll never forget this!” Can you imagine? Visiting from another state, walking through the festival and someone invites you to join in a crab feast? No charge, they hand you a beer and make room at the table. Pretty cool, Barto. Pretty cool.

And the last picture in this post is at the beer tent. St. Michaels volunteer extrodinaire, Sal Simoncini, his lovely wife and Carol Michelson. Sal is EVERYWHERE in St. Michaels – you can’t go to an event, a party, anything without seeing Sal. He’s usually volunteering. He’s Mr. Fun. You’ll see him posing with Marc Barto and Jen, the shipwright apprentice, below as well. And the best part is, since he’s a member of Rotary, every time his picture ends up in the Star-Democrat, he has to pay 5 bucks to Rotary, and if the picture is in color – ten bucks. Hey Sal – what’s THIS going to cost you, since you appear here twice? My recommendation? Fifteen bucks.
