September evenings

….on the dock. I’ve been sitting out there for a portion of each sunset so far this month, listening to the sounds and taking big whiffs of the September marshy creek air. As daylength shortens, dusk at the dock becomes more precious. I like to watch the others enjoying Harris Cove at dusk – this young girl fished a lot over the holiday. I heard muted sounds of music from across the cove, vacationing family members calling out to one another, and the ever-present chirps of crickets. No dock sitting or marsh sniffing tonight, the rain is pounding down in droves and it’s almost dark now, just at five pm. Yesterday, I cranked up the air conditioning. But right now, it feels like November. Socks!
