2 deer in the fog field

…on Cooper Point Road stopped to watch me ride past. I turned around, got off my bike and peered through the trees. We watched each other.

Nobody moved. I watched their breath – round puffs of steam inside complete silence.

This morning, schools in Queen Anne’s County opened late because of the fog. I like the idea that the Chesapeake Bay is holding onto summer, holding the warmth inside of itself, just like me, resisting the onset of winter. I went down to the dock in my pjs this morning:

We took a fog walk, Kev, Zip and I, and stopped to listen to leaves drop. Magic.

Inside of the thick, any color jumps out, like this single yellow leaf.

In an hour or two, it will burn off and the sun is expected to shine brightly today. But these foggy mornings are special, different – almost like another place and time.
