Watermen’s Appreciation Day

….was held yesterday on the beautiful campus of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels. A day filled with music, boat docking contests, crabs, burgers, beer, thousands of people. The event was sponsored by and supports Talbot Watermen – our local watermen’s association.

Here’s the best part – you’d just sit down at a table – any table – there were tables under tents,  some in the sun, some under trees, some by the bandstand. Sit down, and make new friends with whomever is there. I always meet cool people at this event.

Young volunteers in yellow shirts would come by with bushel lids filled with crabs and corn, and drop them off at your table.  They’d come back, take away your trash, and drop off another pile of crabs. This went on ALL DAY LONG.
