In honor of the 40th anniversary of the Clean Water Act….

….a salute to you, Lamont Garber – and to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

Lamont is my brother-in-law, who has been working in the Chesapeake Bay watershed to protect the Bay for some 25 years. He works in Pennsylvania, where hasn’t been so easy to convince Amish and conventional farmers to modify their practices to protect the Chesapeake Bay.

Lancaster County, PA has a tremendous amount of dairy farms. And you’ll recall from earlier conversations, that each cow generates 140 pounds of waste each day. Where’s it gonna go? Downstream.

Here’s a short video about the work that Mont and CBF are doing in Pennsylvania. Hats off to you, Mont!

  1. aw shucks…thanks Sis. Keep up the good work there downstream! Mont

  2. The year was 1972 and the Clean Water Act and the EPA were initiatives under the Nixon Administration.

40 years later, and today’s Republican Party is attempting to dismember both.
