East coast’s largest oyster restoration project underway in Harris Creek

Walking this morning, we saw a huge barge in Harris Creek, depositing what appeared to be rock on the bottom.

A few hours later and with a few emails, it turns out that photo shows 3,000 cubic yards of granite, and it’s being deposited on the bottom to serve as new oyster habitat.

Read all about it in today’s Talbot Spy – right here.

You bet we’ll be watching this project as time goes on. Stay tuned.
