Every Thursday afternoon, from 5:00 till 6:00 pm, a group gathers outside of the Talbot County Courthouse in Easton to remind neighbors to give P.E.A.C.E. a chance (the group is named for Peace, Education and Community Effort.)
They’ve been doing this since 2002, right before we invaded Iraq.
Every single Thursday.
“We’re not just talking about international peace” said Ed Simonoff, the group’s leader. “We’re asking people to consider peace in all aspects of their lives. We don’t expect to change government policy, but we can remind people to consider non-violence in general as they go about living day to day.”
Talk about a community service!
They had such nice energy about them, smiling and waving their signs on the side of the road.
They made an impact on me. Thanks, P.E.A.C.E.!
