beyond brr…

Well, the ‘polar vortex’ plunged precariously low across the eastern part of the country, and there’s ice on the inside of the tiny schoolhouse’s historic windows this morning.

The furnace pumps onward, but the floors and even my chair seat = positively polar today.

I laid awake much of the glacial, windy night, worrying about frozen water lines some 900 miles away.

But the sun makes everything better, and quick checks on facebook and twitter assure me that the world keeps goin’ round.

Exhale. Inhale. No walk today.

Soup.

  1. The combination of the word vortex with polar is unsettling.

  2. no walk here either!

  3. You should see what’s happening in South Carolina. Total bloodbath. To wit: http://driftersdesk.com/2014/01/07/the-great-polar-vortex-of-14-notes-on-anarchy-in-greenville-south-carolina/

  4. SOUP = YES! I don’t know, call me crazy but I LIKE the cold. Cozy! (As long as it ends at some point.)

  5. p.s. I would just like to point out that there was a KAYAKER on the EB the other day. Before the cold snap, but in the midst of the snow. Sheesh! http://theeasternbay.com/kayaker-on-the-eastern-bay/

  6. We used to call these “cold snaps” in olden times (i.e. 2 years ago).
