“it’s a huge still life that I’ll never finish…”

…said Kevin Garber earlier this afternoon. Brush with wood stain in hand, he’s spent the better part of the past days making things invisible at the cabin. “It’s a hobby,” he said. “I love it.”


Other favorite hobbies, here at the cabin on Fishing Creek near Orangeville, PA on this 4th of July:

local sweet corn, thunderous rainstorms, quilted flannel jackets all day long, mulching around the fire pit, seeding the old maple tree stump. The cabin on Fishing Creek deeply satisfies, since 1990. 24 years of traditions, histories, stories, eating, sleeping, thunderstorms, hickory nuts landing BAM! on the roof. Neighbors who hug us welcome humble us; we appreciate these riches on the banks of this creek, in these cottages built so long ago.
