finally! fishing and farmers market seasons begin
Big news for the market is that India Gilham-Westerman was hired to be the new market manager. India is taking over the job after Carol Bean’s tenure. India is a shipwright and food lover, allegedly a great cook and has terrific new ideas. Carol has started a new venture, Know Good Farm – more on that later.
The market opened with GREAT food, thanks to Chef Billy Kitts of the Miles River Yacht Club who did a cooking demo and served up delicious fresh crab and asparagus, with crab donated by Chesapeake Landing.
It’s always great to see founder of the FRESHFARM markets, Ann Yonkers – who is a legend in the food world. This is her last season before retiring. She has been on the leading edge of the food movement and I really hope she decides to write a book or do a film about the past 18 years and her part in the movement.
And the first weekend of rockfish season was big fun as evidenced by my Facebook feed all weekend long, and the photos Kevin took, included below.
Spring it on!
